Do you have a puzzle to participate in National Puzzle Day, January 29th? The holiday was founded in 2002 by an avid puzzler and is meant to encourage everyone to enjoy a jigsaw puzzle, word search, crossword puzzle, or even a Sudoku puzzle! We love that puzzles can be done solo or with company, there isn’t a time-limit, and they are for people of all ages and various abilities.

In 2014, the world’s largest puzzle was completed by a teenager! The puzzle by Ravensburger, called “Memorable Disney Moments” was 40,320 pieces and took 423 hours to complete.

To fully seize the day, check out some of our most favorite puzzles below!

Memorable Disney Moments features an incredible 40,320 pieces, measures approximately 22.5 feet wide by 6.5 feet tall, and weights 43 pounds, earning the Guinness World Record for the largest commercially-available puzzle in the world, in both number of pieces and sheer size of the finished puzzle. Featuring 10 individual, 4,032-piece panels. You’ll be committing roughly 600 hours of puzzle fun to this masterpiece. Imagine the pride you’ll feel when it’s finished!

This is the ultimate puzzle challenge. Instead of using the typical ribbon cut for this puzzle, Ravensburger has hand-crafted a unique puzzle tool with a spiral cut for a special visual effect once the Krypt Silver puzzle is complete. Featuring a silver effect print on this puzzle and no image, this is the ultimate challenge for any puzzle enthusiast with 654 pieces.

Utilizing the latest 3D puzzle technology, you can create this stunning 3D Eiffel Tower. This “Night Edition” Eiffel Tower puzzle uses LED technology to create two different lighting effects. It can set to a steady warm white glow, or alternate colors, continually switching between green, orange, and yellow light. This automatic color-changing makes an effective and dramatic addition to any room and can serve as a night light. The puzzle uses hinged plastic pieces, which slot together to build a sturdy and strong building without glue!

Land of the Giants is a large puzzle great for ages 6+. One reviewer stated, “My boys are obsessed with dinosaurs and love this puzzle. It’s still a little hard for my 5-year-old but my almost 7-year-old can do it by himself. Great for spatial awareness and builds their confidence.”

National Puzzle Day is more than just putting something together, but also has many health benefits, which include:

  • Strengthening both sides of your brain by improving hand-eye coordination, visual-perceptual skills, and problem-solving
  • Improves social skills if players solve puzzles together in groups
  • Those who solve puzzles may be less likely to develop dementia and Alzheimer’s
  • Solving puzzles can help reduce stress
